Cluzzle is a board game for 3-6 players ages 8 and up (although intrepid 5-7 year olds should be able to handle it as well). Cluzzle was designed by Dominic Crapuchettes and published by Northstar Games.
Cluzzle is a bit like traditional guessing games, such as charades or Pictionary, but instead of acting out or drawing your clue, you sculpt it out of clay. The trick is, though, that you must make a somewhat ambiguous sculpture because you want your opponents to take a few turns to guess it, to achieve maximum points. If you make it too obvious, they'll guess right away, and you won't get very many points. If you make it too difficult, your opponents won't be able to guess it at all, and you'll get zero points. You can win points both as the sculptor and as the guesser.
Each "Cluzzle Card" has a list of objects that you can choose from. In the second edition of the game, celebrities like singer Alanis Morissette and board game designer Alan Moon contributed a list of their own. Alanis's list includes Teacher and Piano, as well as 7 other objects. The lists have some objects that lend themselves particularly well to "ambiguous clay puzzles", others that are trickier. Luckily, you get to pick one that seems fun to you.
When you try to guess the other players' objects, instead of just guessing outright, players should ask creative questions, such as "Is the Cluzzle a man-made object?" or "Would you normally find this Cluzzle indoors?". The more clever you are with asking the questions, the more likely it is that YOU will be the one to ultimately guess the Cluzzle, not your opponents.All-in-all, Cluzzle is a really fun game, perfect for a family game night. There is nothing morally objectionable about any of the clues on the cards, and kids and adults alike will enjoy sculpting the puzzles. And don't think you need to be an artist to play! Frankly, bad sculpture is part of the game!
